Since the start of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has shaken political and economic systems globally. South Africa, which has been experiencing political instability and grappling with weak economic growth for several years, has not been spared.
The full extent of the humanitarian, economic and financial impact is still unknown. But could this worldwide crisis result in an acceleration of much-needed local political reform? And if so, could it allow the country to show its resilience in the face of turmoil again?
