OUR CLIENTS
We act for a wide array of clients offering a comprehensive range of services that include collective investment schemes and specialist segregated mandates for pension funds. We currently manage a substantial investment for a wide range of clients and have had a presence in the region for over 12 years having commenced operations in Uganda in 2002.

Our clients are mainly institutional and corporate investors with short-term cash management and medium-to-long term investment needs, including retirement funds asset management and retail investors with surplus cash to invest either at regular intervals or one off lump sum investments. Our retail clients comprise of individual investors, high net-worth individuals, clubs, small business associations and community cooperatives

STANLIB was founded in 2002 when Liberty Asset Management and Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank (SCMB)Asset Management merged. Our Team

James Muratha
Regional Director – East Africa

Bcom (Accounting), MBA (Finance), CPA (k) 

James is the Regional Managing Director of STANLIB East Africa in charge of the East African region. He has a wealth of experience in international capital markets and has previously held senior management positions with leading global financial institutions specializing in asset management. James has an MBA in finance from the University of New Brunswick in Canada. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from Kenyatta University. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya. He is the current Chairman of the Fund Managers Association.


Annette Rumanyika-Mulira
Managing Director

MBA, Bcomm

Annette is responsible for STANLIB business in Uganda. She spans 14 years experience in investments, Banking, Corporate Finance, Business development and client relations management. Prior to Joining the STANLIB team, Annette worked with various organizations in East Africa in the capacities of Corporate Finance Advisory Consultant, Head of Global Markets sales, Treasury corporate dealer among others. Annette has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Makerere university and a Master’s in Business Administration from Huron University UK. She has also completed level 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.


Felix K. Gichaga
Regional Head of Business Development, STANLIB East Africa

Business Admin and Marketing, MBA (Finance)

Felix joined STANLIB in 2013 as the East Africa Regional Head of Business Development and has the overall responsibility for the development and execution of strategic business growth plans and strong client relationships. Felix’s experience in financial services is varied. Prior to joining STANLIB, Felix served as Head of International Development Group (Kenya) for CFC Stanbic Bank. Before his role at Stanbic, Felix worked in various senior positions in the financial industry.

Felix has a Masters in Finance, and an undergraduate (double major) in Business Administration and Marketing. In addition he has had the relevant training in Commercial Energy Engineering and Auditing in the U.S.A and U.K and began his career in 1999 carrying out industrial and commercial audits in East Africa.


Joel Roimen
Chief Operating Officer

MBA Finance

Joel is the Chief Operating Officer at STANLIB East Africa. He has responsibility for the Finance and Operations function across the region and is responsible for the overall operational function across the region. Joel has oversight of the operations of all product offered by STANLIB East Africa which are both institutional and retail. Joe Holds a Masters degree in International Business Administration and is a certified process professional.


Ken Kaniu
Chief Investment Officer

MBA from the Strathmore Business School

Kenneth is the Chief Investment Officer at STANLIB East Africa. He has responsibility for the investment function across the region and is responsible for overall investment strategy and investment execution across all investment products. He has oversight over investment management of all institutional and retail client portfolios and has held various investment related roles both locally and abroad. Kenneth has an MBA in finance from Strathmore Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with finance concentration from United States International University-Africa.
