STANLIB Africa represents the investment businesses of the Liberty Holdings Ltd in Africa and has been operational since 1997. The investment business consists of Collective Investments and Asset Management businesses. These businesses are subsidiaries of Liberty Holdings Ltd and are branded STANLIB.

Standard Bank’s asset management strategy is to partner with Liberty Holdings Ltd in offering financial products and services in Africa. As a result, the Liberty Holdings Ltd investment businesses are found in Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, Uganda and Kenya (please see below for Africa offices details as well as in-country product offerings).

Some countries have their own investment teams, while others rely on STANLIB South Africa to provide investment expertise. However, all STANLIB funds are administered and monitored by a dedicated African Investment Team in South Africa to ensure compliance.

While certain products offered are branded as STANLIB, others might be packaged under a Liberty or Standard Bank or STANBIC wrapper, all depending on the distribution channel. In addition to STANLIB’s in-country businesses, STANLIB has a team of investment professionals based in Johannesburg managing Pan African Equity portfolios for various clients in South Africa, Europe and the Middle-East.

STANLIB Asset Management Ltd's expertise is available to international investors through three US$ denominated UCITS compliant collective investments, or pooled funds, which we believe are the first of their kind anywhere in the world. The funds are sub-funds of Standard Master Funds, an umbrella fund which is domiciled in Dublin, Ireland. Standard Master Funds is regulated by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

The two sub-funds STANLIB Asset Management Ltd will initially manage are:

• The Standard Africa Equity Fund
• The Standard South Africa Equity Fund

In addition, for South African and international investors, STANLIB Collective Investments Ltd has a Rand denominated FSB approved equity fund, the

STANLIB Africa Equity Proposition. Even though the fund is Rand-denominated and managed in South Africa, the securities included in the portfolio will be securities of companies operating in Africa (excluding South Africa) or companies with operations predominantly in Africa (excluding South Africa).
