Intro

The STANLIB ALSI40 Tracker is a passively managed index-tracking fund. The aim is to replicate the performance of the FTSE /JSE Top40 Index. The Fund purchases a portfolio of stocks, which should very closely track the performance of the FTSE /JSE Top40 Index. It is aimed at both individual and institutional investors who seek exposure to the Top40 at a reduced cost.

The Fund purchases a portfolio of stocks, which should very closely track the performance of the FTSE /JSE All Share Index.  It is aimed at both individual and institutional investors who seek exposure to the All Share Index at a reduced cost.

 

Objectives

To earn a total return equal to the return of the FTSE/JSE Top40 Index, as adjusted for fees and transaction costs.

 

Process

The fund holds shares in proportion to their weights in the ALSI. The use of ALSI40 futures provide liquidity and also allow us to track the performance of the Top40 Index at a reduced cost.

 

Competitive advantage

The fund has been able to successfully track the long-term performance of the FTSE/JSE Top40 Index, with reasonably negligible tracking errors, as adjusted for fees and transaction costs.
